  • Are local files encrypted when the device is locked?
  • Are backups enabled, and can you manage or exclude app data from them?
  • Can you export your information in a usable format?
  • Can you delete individual entries, conversations, or your account data?
  • What remains after deletion, including copies in backups or required records?
  • Does connecting a wearable, calendar, document app, or other service create an additional data flow?
  • Who can access the data for support, security, or service operations?

Useful privacy language is specific. Vague phrases such as “your data is secure” do not tell you whether data is stored on-device, encrypted, retained indefinitely, shared with connected services, or available to employees under defined circumstances.
